AGM 2008

Annual General Meeting 2008

The EMS 2008 AGM is nigh.

The AGM is the most important EMS event that doesn't involved any musical instruments. It's your opportunity to have a say in the running of EMS and maybe even get involved.

The AGM will include reports and ratification of the constitution, but the main activity will be the election of the new committee for 2008/2009. Come along and vote for you preferred members or maybe even nominate yourself for a position or two.

We want everyone to come along, not just to reach the required quorum, but also because it's a great way to show your support for the club. You must be a member to vote, but you can sign up on the day if you're not already.

When: 1PM SHARP on Thursday 4th, September, 2008.
Where: Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering Theatre.

(Map Ref J18, Building 165, Room G20)

  • Treasurer
  • Secretary

  • *Publicity Officers
  • Orchestra Manager
  • Concert Band Manager
  • Stage Band Managers
  • Choir Manager

Info For Prospective Members
Welcome to the website of the Engineering Music Society!

EMS provides a sociable environment for people who want to continue to play their instrument in an ensemble after finishing school. Students from ALL FACULTIES are welcome, and EMS has a policy of no auditions.

The club currently supports an orchestra, concert band, two stage bands and a choir. All ensembles rehearse weekly for a couple of hours in the evening. At the end of each semester we hold public concerts and also play at functions such as Discovery Day and Engineering Deans Honours.

Apart from music, the club has a strong social aspect to it. There are trips to the pub after every rehearsal, "beer and freddos" nights, BBQs, and a camp each semester.

To join EMS simply turn up to a rehearsal, which start in the first week of semester 2 (week beginning Monday July 28). Check out the rehearsal schedule as well as the "How to Join" section of the website for rehearsal days and times.
